Introduction

There are over 1300 species of acacia but true gum arabic is the product of Acacia senegal.  Gum acacia is highly nutritious and during the time of the gum harvest, the Moors of the desert were said to live almost entirely on it.  It has been proven that a mere 6 oz. is sufficient to support an adult for 24 hours.
